What is Tinnitus?

Tinnitus is a common disorder with many possible causes. Most cases of tinnitus are subjective, but occasionaly other people are able to hear the Tinnitus. The diversity of tinnitus varies from an occasional awareness of a noise (e.g., ringing, hissing, buzzing, roaring, ocean waves, clicking or rough sounds,) in one or both ears, to an unbearable sound that drives some persons to contemplate suicide.

What causes Tinnitus?

Tinnitus has hundreds of causes which make the therapy very difficult. For dancers the most significant causes are loudness, noise and stress.

How to prevent Tinnitus?

  1. Use ear protection.
  2. Avoid exposure to loud sounds and noises.
  3. Avoid close standing/dancing to loudspeakers.
  4. Get adequate rest and avoid stress.
