Dancers and cloths - 2005/12/20 02:49 All dancers are into cloths ...always dress nice!!!

Is clothing important for you?
What brands do you prefer?

Or do you don't mind about cloths just wear anything!?

Re:Dancers and cloths - 2005/12/20 12:56 Yeah clothing is important to me. It doesn't make you dance better but it can make you feel better when you dance. Plus it gives you more personality, more presence... and that helps building your own style, which is always good because it's part of you.

As for brands and such : I don't care at all. All I care about is having clothes that fit my tastes, my styles and most of all my own body (what interest can I have in something I can't even wear, or dance with?). So I tend to like a few brands, but that's only because they make clothes I like, are usually quite innovative, and most preferably aren't too expensive (branded clothes are a plague for your budget )

I think that's about it for me

Re:Dancers and cloths - 2005/12/21 20:44 Clothing gives another impression of your dance!

Try to breakdance in Raverwear and see what I mean, it's not real not true. You might see it as a variation but to every music belongs a special culture and design like hiphop which is very urban or Rave which is colored and strange....

It's not clothing but it's the person makes the true dancer and outfits can help to make a real dancer who is getting one with the music so I think styling is very important for parties and especially for shows

Re:Dancers and cloths - 2005/12/29 21:28 Every culture has it's idenitity. No matter if it's hip hop, rave, gothic, or whatever. Clothes are probably the first identifier of what you may represent or believe in. I can dance in a suit or in jeans, but I wouldn't do any moves that required me to go to the floor in a suit. Most clubs here have such strick dress codes that I can't be as free as I'd like to be with what I feel like dancing in. Hats are the biggest problem to me. I can see banning baseball caps kind of, but stylish hats should be allowed. They allow women to wear a stylish hat, why not men? I'm sure most of you know that a hat just adds a certain look to your movements. Sometimes a hat is just to help you fell more confident or feel like no one else is around. I wear baseball gloves sometimes, and it just gives me a feeling of being more creative with my hands than without them. Unfortunately for us hip hoppers, club owners feel that they can weed out the bad apples by using a strict dress code. In my opinion, people frown upon anyone that wears some hip hop clothing because it's really baggy or off their butts. They identify a certin look to be thuggish and they don't want that in their clubs. Some clubs also do it because they have cameras inside and may need to be able to identify someone if something went wrong inside, therefore no hats are allowed. Sometimes the dress code is only enforced on certain nights also.

Re:Dancers and cloths - 2006/01/18 12:02 I totally agree with you guys. clothes are important in way. but to talk to totalimpact, I think it's o.k. in a way when they have a certain dress code in a club. as long as it's not to strict. but they should be more relaxed with dancers wearing stylish clothes. I don't even think it's to bad in hip hop clubs. I think it's way more frustrating in house clubs. I'm sure the house dancers agree with me... cause to have to be dressed up in a house club is the worst...
but clothes are important, for exampleancers in Japan. If they see a dancer/dance they like. than they imitate everything. they buy the same shirts, pants, shoes and even the haircut. that makes it easier for them to imitate the dancer they saw and liked.

Re:Dancers and cloths - 2006/01/30 16:41 7Even,

I agree with you, there should be a dress code. A dress code keeps out the knuckle heads (trouble makers). No matter if it's a house club or hip hop club, they need to relax a bit!

Re:Dancers and cloths - 2006/01/31 23:52 Yes we dancers really do LOVE clothing..i know i prefer to wear either loose or sexy clothing when performing..not only does it attract but makes it easier to feel the music. Clothing is very important when performing because if a dancer is not comfortable when performing he/she will not be able to show their true talent. Brands aren't that important, just as long as you look good and feel good in what you wear.

Re: Re:Dancers and cloths - 2006/08/09 12:22 When watching performances I like innovative styles, like Martha Graham's tent-like dresses, or Flamenco clothing, both of which become active parts of the choreography and move with the dancer's body.

What I don't like clothes-wise:
- everybody wearing the same black jazzpants in jazzclass
- people, especially girls, showing up in tight things for hiphop etc.

Seeing the same ol' stuff over and over again on stage: girls short and sexy, boys wide and gangster....we nees some innvoation here.

Dance is supposed to free yourself from all -isms, including sexism, not confirm it.

Re: Dancers and cloths - 2007/03/16 13:23 While practising i like to wear Convenient wide clothes
I like kANI,Pele Pele, but when practising it's not so important in what kind of brend you ARE !!! music and good mood...all that i need in practise..!
Clubs...yeah...real problem to go into dressed as i like to be.in our country we can visit only special partys dressed in whatever you like.
BIG problem to find some innovations in hip hop clothing...like in Bremen IDO world cup...very much many dancers look similar...just colours are different ...! BE DIFFERENT ....that's what i'm trying to do.

Re: Dancers and cloths - 2007/07/03 03:17 Myself, not important, as long as it's comfortable.
For a girl, if it's comfy and looks sexy... well... that's a bonus!

weiss-rot:
schwarze hosen, weiss rote oberteile (z.b. weisses top plus rotes zerrissenes shirt drüber) und accessoires (bänder usw.)

gruss
